🎓 Twelve Athens Academy Seniors Just Earned National Merit Recognition
Twelve seniors from the Class of 2027 at Athens Academy have earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Five were named Semifinalists, placing them among the top 1–2% of scorers nationwide, while seven others were recognized as Commended Students, representing the top 3–4%.
Among Georgia’s 920 private schools, Athens Academy has the third-highest number of Semifinalists this year, tied with Pace Academy and Woodward Academy.
“This recognition reflects not only their academic talent, but also the hard work and determination they have shown throughout their years at Athens Academy,” said Head of School Jeff Miles.

🎨 Tiny ATH gallery is closing after seven years
The Gist: Founder Camille Hayes and curator Linda Macbeth announced that tiny ATH gallery at 174 Cleveland Ave. is closing this week. Its final exhibition, A to V (Athens to Västerås), features work by 10 artists.
Why It Matters: The closure ends seven years of solo exhibitions for local artists at the Cleveland Avenue space. Hayes said it was time to leave room for someone else to imagine tiny ATH's future. Works left from the final show are headed to her new gallery in Sweden, where she plans an Athens exhibition in April 2027.
What's Next: The farewell reception is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m.
