π Watch Frankenstein While the Athens Symphony Plays the Score Live
Frankenstein (1931) was originally released without a musical score. In 2001, composer Michael Shapiro wrote one for the film, and this Sunday the Athens Symphony Orchestra is performing it live while the movie plays on the big screen at The Classic Center Theatre.
It's one night only on Sunday, October 25. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the film starts at 6:30 p.m., with tickets from $29.75. The night is a fundraiser from the Friends of the Athens Symphony, so every ticket supports the Symphony, which has been around since 1976 and puts on free community concerts every year.

βοΈ A Judge Signed the Order. The Other Side Is Ignoring It. Now What?
When a court order is in place, but the other party refuses to follow it, Samuel Thomas Law helps clients in Athens navigate family law contempt and enforcement cases. Attorney Samuel E. Thomas explains on his website that when someone violates a court order, he works to move the case forward and seek enforcement through the court.
As the firm's principal attorney and owner, Samuel works directly with clients throughout their cases. The firm promises direct attorney access from intake through resolution, along with honest case assessments and straightforward advice, no sugarcoating. A lifelong Athens resident and University of Georgia graduate, Samuel is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the American Bar Association's Family Law Section.
Getting started begins with an appointment. Share the details of your court order and what has happened since, and Samuel can help you understand your situation and potential next steps. You can book through the firm's website or call or text 706-546-0999 if the online calendar doesn't show a suitable time. The website notes that the calendar may not reflect his full availability. The office is located at 585 Research Drive, Suite A.

π Five vacant Athens lots could become affordable homes
The Gist: The Athens-Clarke County Land Bank Authority asked commissioners for $450,000 to operate for 18 months starting January 1. The request would pay for an executive director, a part-time office manager, office rent and purchases of single-family lots. Board chair Greg O'Connell said the authority already has five vacant lots to prepare and offer for development.
Why It Matters: Those lots could add affordable homes to vacant land in Athens. Some commissioners questioned the proposed $100,000 director salary and $40,000 office rent; Deputy Manager Andrew Saunders said affordable housing requires ongoing public subsidy.
What's Next: Commissioners are scheduled to vote on the funding request November 4.
