🏈 Athens plans to turn a Satterfield baseball field into a football field
The Gist: Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services has started work at Satterfield Park on Cherokee Road. Crews are repaving much of the parking area and adding perimeter fencing. In 2027, the county plans to redesign the rest of the parking area and convert Field 1 from baseball to youth football.
Why It Matters: East Athens Little League calls Satterfield home. County project documents say youth football teams have already used the baseball field as a makeshift football field; the conversion would give them a dedicated one. The park and tennis courts remain open during construction, but parking is limited.
What's Next: The parking and fencing work is expected to finish by mid-November.
