For the local Athens businesses

It’s Andrew, and I’m the founder and writer behind the scenes (something the older fans know).

I’m writing a special edition because I’ve been grinding for months behind the scenes on the thing I care most about in Athens: local business.

Everything from crafts, to food, to art, to home services, is represented here in a way that you just can’t find anymore in the US, and it’s what makes us feel so much more like an actual community than just a place people live.

Since the beginning, I’ve been trying and brainstorming ways I can get them in front of more people. We need more dollars going into locals.

But it’s often really hard to support local, and the biggest reason why is most people just don’t know about spots!

And if you’re a small business owner you already know. What you do is sooo much better than whatever you can get on Amazon or from fast food, but if no one knows about you, it doesn’t matter. That’s the thing making small businesses disappear in 2026.

So I wanted to create a way where I can get great local businesses in front of my 13,000+ readers (and 25,600 followers on IG!) that balances the 2 thing that are hardest for small business marketing: actually working, at a affordable price.

That’s why I just launched our Local Member program.

We’re going to transform local businesses by putting them in front of every possible place I can with Athens Scoop. The 3-step plan is:

1. Premium site on our directory. We’ll have your business at the top of the directory with all your info, so our readers already on our site can find you, call you, and know that you’re actually legit.
   
   With this we want to not only get you direct viewers, social media followers, and customers, but also make you start dominating on Google rankings (which is why we’re completely SEO optimizing your listing so you start showing up at the top when people search for you).

2. Your own spot in the email. Every month, you’ll be directly put in front of 13,000+ people as one of our recommended businesses I trust, where people can directly click through to your social media or website. We get hundreds of people clicking on all of our editions, and you should share some of the pie.

3. Posts on our 25.6K Instagram. Every month, we’ll post all of you directly to our IG tagging you, so we can boost your followers and get people to recognize and trust you.
   
   And not only that, but people will be able to comment the word “OFFERS” on the post and we will directly DM them your business completely for you. Can’t get more personal than that.
   

And every month, we’ll send you a report so you know exactly what you’re getting and how you’re growing.
