About Puma Yu's
Puma Yu's at 355 Oneta Street in the historic Southern Mill complex serves non traditional Thai cuisine accompanied by creative cocktails and low intervention wines in Athens, GA. The concept pairs Thai techniques with seasonal ingredients to create a menu that evolves with what is fresh and available. The restaurant occupies a space in the Rivet House development area, near Osteria Olio and other newer Athens dining concepts. A heated and covered patio adds outdoor seating, and ample free parking eliminates one of the common frustrations of downtown dining. Lunch service runs Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 AM to 2 PM, and dinner hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 PM and Friday through Saturday from 5 to 11 PM. With a 4.2 star rating across more than 132 reviews, the restaurant has developed a following for its creative approach to Thai food rather than standard Americanized versions. Walk ins are accepted, reservations are available through Resy, and online ordering runs through Toast. A supper club membership program adds an additional layer for regulars who want exclusive access. The cocktail program and wine list complement the food with the same creative, thoughtful approach.

Puma Yu's treads a very fine line between comfortable/casual and classy/fancy and I think it actually nails the vibe very well. I don't think you'd look out of place in a T-Shirt and Shorts but can easily come in dressed in a tie and not look out of place. The drink menu is OUTSTANDINGLY huge, it's essentially 4 times larger than the food menu and has some very interesting and unique flavors and picks. The seasonal nature of the menu makes it more difficult to talk on the food as it changes. I will say everything tends to be somewhat spicy, you can ask for things on the side but just BASELINE the way the food is prepared/cooked, it's going to have kick. Parking is very easy, the whole Rivet House complex is very pleasant to get into and out of. So why not 5 stars? I think the food menu is just SMALL, there's not a lot of diversity, you essentially have ONE noodle dish, ONE fish dish, ONE curry. There is often going to be an interesting special like Fried Chicken or Flank Steak and again, I think the food is delicious, but it's nice to have options, especially if you're coming with a larger party. Pictures are from my most recent visit in October 2025.

After my first visit, I wasn’t sure how often I would come back, but I now find myself constantly bringing friends here, so I figured it was finally time to write a review. Food & Drinks: The food is always so good. Lately we keep going back specifically for their small plates. The spring rolls are incredible, and the sauce they come with is honestly heavenly. The pork dumplings are also AMAZING. My friends and I usually stick to sharing the snacks and starters, but their larger plates are just as good. I personally gravitate toward the noodle dishes, and they never disappoint. The cocktails are not only beautiful (served in the cutest fancy little glasses), but they really pack a punch. They also offer non-alcoholic options that I feel like are much more creative than what I usually see elsewhere. Service: Always incredible. Every server we’ve had has been kind, attentive, and extremely helpful whenever we have questions. Atmosphere: The whole place is just a vibe. The colors, lighting, seating, and music make it both relaxing and somehow rejuvenating. If my friends and I are having a bad day, Puma Yu’s is our go-to, and our mood is instantly turned around. 10/10 recommend.

Delicious, unique food and amazing service. Everything was fresh and tasty, and I will definitely be back. Chef deserves all the props. Do try the beef noodle! UPDATED REVIEW:: I went a second time, and the menu is seasonal so it was a new menu. I got a pork noodle for $28. While the portion was large, it was quite greasy and left me feeling heavy. I will come back and try the desserts! The 20% included gratuity tip is also steep as the menu items are already expensive. I'm excited to try thr lunch options as well.
