About Marker Seven Coastal Grill

Marker Seven Coastal Grill on S Milledge Avenue in Five Points serves seafood in a historical home that gives the restaurant a character you will not find at a typical fish house. With nearly 800 reviews at 4.5 stars, the restaurant has carved out a niche as the go to seafood destination in Athens for people who want both quality fish and an atmosphere with personality. The menu features seasonal seafood alongside American coastal dishes, with appetizers and entrees that showcase the kitchen's ability to handle fresh fish with skill. The setting in a converted home gives each dining room a different feel, from intimate spaces for couples to larger areas that accommodate groups. The patio is a popular choice when weather permits. The Five Points location on S Milledge Avenue places Marker Seven in one of Athens' most charming neighborhoods, surrounded by other quality restaurants and shops. The historical home setting adds an element of discovery, as first time visitors often comment on how the space feels more like dining at someone's well appointed house than at a restaurant. Marker Seven is open for lunch and dinner, with hours that vary by day. Reservations are recommended for dinner, especially on weekends and during football season. The restaurant is a popular choice for birthdays, game day gatherings, and family celebrations. Pricing sits in the $$ range, reflecting quality seafood in a distinctive setting.

Read all the great reviews and decided we would come here when we were visiting our son in Athens - a Sunday. Love the building, love the atmosphere, service was spot on. Parking is tight. The food was OK. Definitely hit and miss. The hush puppies are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. But the fried green tomatoes are really really thick and when you bite into them, it’s like biting into a really hard, uncooked unpleasant thing. The coleslaw tasted weird. The oysters were delicious, don’t bother with the crawdaddy hash because it’s all potatoes with a few oversalted tiny almost bitter tasting crawfish thrown in and as the photo here shows, the onions and peppers weren’t even cooked. Not even a hint of hitting a pan.Neither were the mushrooms, but I ended up eating those. The poached egg was perfect. My husband loved his burger and he’s very picky about his burgers, so that’s something. My son liked but not loved the black beans and rice and also the red mule grits were quite good. Our server apologized and said it was shift change, but shift change shouldn’t equate to careless or bad cooking. Ever. Won’t be back. 😔

The atmosphere is beautiful. The food presentation is spot on . Unfortunately, the foods flavor is a little lacking. The sea food is good but I was not impressed. Coming from Maine where seafood is top-notch. I guess I'm a bit spoiled.

My fiancé and I just went for the first time and we absolutely loved it. The surf and turf was 10/10! Also recommend the grouper and gouda mac and cheese. All of the food and drinks were great as well as the service. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. Definitely going again and bringing my family next time they visit!
