☕️ A Cozy Coffee Stop in Normaltown

Sips Espresso sits in a small house on Prince Avenue, serving coffee made with local beans, loose-leaf teas, smoothies, and sweet and savory scones. With outdoor seating and a relaxed neighborhood feel, it works just as well for a quick morning drink as it does for catching up with a friend.

🌸 Pregnant in Athens? How to Watch Your Baby Grow Between OB Visits

If your last ultrasound was over before you got a good look and the next one is still weeks away, Blossom Ultrasound Boutique was made for you.

OB ultrasounds are practical and important, but they can still feel cold and procedural during a time you want to slow down and remember.

Blossom slows it down: bring your partner, children, or grandparents, watch the baby stretch and turn, wait for a clear angle, and take home every image and video.

It feels less like another appointment and more like hanging out with your baby, often the moment pregnancy becomes real for a partner or older sibling.

The Watch Me Bloom package captures three stages: the early heartbeat, the gender reveal, and after 28 weeks, the 4D/HD face, lips, and cheeks you have been imagining.

When the baby hides their face or turns away, Jade does not rush; after nine years imaging babies in maternal-fetal medicine, that patience is what parents praise in her reviews.

Your baby only reaches each stage once, so capture it while it’s here.

🚨 Athens Restarts Its Emergency Planning Committee

For the first time since 2019, Athens will once again have a Local Emergency Planning Committee. The group develops and reviews emergency-response plans while helping residents understand hazardous chemical risks in the community. Its first meeting is Thursday, August 20, from 3 to 4 p.m. at 120 Dougherty Street.

Why It Matters: The committee gives first responders, local officials, hospitals, businesses and community representatives a formal place to coordinate before an emergency happens.

🎨 Athens Wants an Artist for Its New Eastside Library

Athens-Clarke County is accepting proposals from professional artists for an interior mural at the future Eastside Library on Barnett Shoals Road. Designs should reflect literacy, storytelling, local history, learning and community. Applications are due September 18 at 5 p.m., and finalists will receive $350 to develop detailed proposals.

Why It Matters: A local artist will help shape a permanent part of the east side’s new full-service public library.

🐈 This Watkinsville Café Comes With Coffee, Hot Chocolate, and Rescue Cats

If your kids have been asking for a cat, or you just need somewhere different to spend an afternoon, Entangled Cat Cafe in Downtown Watkinsville is a spot to put on the list.

Book an hour in the Cat Lounge, grab a Publica coffee or hot chocolate, and hang out with rescue cats while they climb, play, nap, and decide whether you’re their new best friend.

Go for a parent-kid outing, a low-key date, a study break, or a quiet hour away from screens that feels surprisingly therapeutic.

And if you have actually been thinking about adopting, this may be the best way to find the right cat.

Instead of choosing from a photo or a few minutes in a kennel, you can see which cats are playful or mellow, how they act around other cats, and which personality naturally clicks with yours.
