🏠 Athens Just Made Tiny Homes Legal
Athens-Clarke County commissioners unanimously removed the rule requiring homes to have at least 1,000 square feet of floor space, allowing tiny homes in Athens for the first time in decades. Commissioners separately voted 7-3 against allowing fully habitable accessory dwelling units with kitchens in single-family neighborhoods.
Why It Matters: The change creates another option for smaller and potentially more affordable homes as Athens continues looking for ways to address its housing shortage.

🛍 Nordstrom Rack Is Coming to Athens
Nordstrom Rack is opening its first Athens location next summer, bringing the discount arm of Nordstrom to the city for the first time. The retailer sells discounted clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods from both designer and mainstream brands.
Why It Matters: Athens has relatively few large fashion retailers compared with nearby metro Atlanta, and the new store will add another major shopping option locally.
