Big City Bread Adds Afternoon Coffee and Pastry Hours
Big City Bread Cafe at 393 N. Finley St. is now serving specialty coffee and pastries Monday through Friday from 3–5 p.m., giving customers a dedicated afternoon coffee stop between lunch and dinner. The locally owned café has been serving Athens since 1998.
The café also recently added weekday dinner service from 5–9 p.m., with a new menu featuring French dishes, soups, salads, sandwiches, seasonal vegetables and sides. Weekend brunch continues from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

🍺 Terrapin stopped brewing beer in Athens after nearly 25 years
The Gist: Co-founders John Cochran and Brian “Spike” Buckowski started Terrapin in Athens almost 25 years ago. The company plans to stop production at its Athens brewery before the end of September, while keeping the taproom open and using the site for shipping and storage.
Why It Matters: Customers can still visit the Athens taproom, but Terrapin beer will no longer be brewed here.
What's Next: Terrapin hosted a public farewell to Athens production Friday, September 25, from 3 to 9 p.m. with Cochran, Buckowski and other members of the Terrapin team.
