💼 Still Have a 401(k) Sitting at a Job You Left Years Ago?
If you've still got a 401(k) sitting with a company you haven't worked for in years, you're not late, and you're not alone.
Most people leave that account exactly where it landed, untouched, unmanaged, and quietly drifting from whatever plan they actually have for retirement.
An old 401(k) usually comes with a narrow menu of funds someone else picked years ago, limited flexibility around income planning, and no one actively watching it as your life changes.
Rolling it into an IRA opens up a much wider range of investment options and gives you an actual person paying attention to it alongside the rest of your financial picture, not just a statement that shows up once a quarter.
If you happen to be holding company stock inside that plan, there's an extra layer worth walking through before anything moves: a strategy called net unrealized appreciation that can mean paying capital gains rates instead of ordinary income tax on years of growth, but only if it's handled in the right order.
None of this is a decision to make from a script or a five minute online calculator. It takes sitting down with your actual numbers, your timeline, and what you're building toward, and thinking it through together.
I'd like to buy you a cup of coffee, take a real look at what's sitting in that old account, and figure out together whether bringing it under one roof with the rest of your plan makes sense for you.
No pressure, no obligation, just a conversation about what you've built and how to make it work harder for you.

☀️ Saturday Could Bring Record-Breaking Heat to Athens
The Gist: Saturday's Georgia home opener could be one of the hottest on record, with temperatures expected to reach around 97 degrees near kickoff. That would potentially break the previous record for a Georgia home opener.
Why It Matters: Whether you're heading to the game, tailgating, working outside or simply making weekend plans, the extreme heat could affect how Athens residents spend their Saturday.

🏗️ Athens is Moving More Building Permits Online
The Gist: Athens-Clarke County has launched a new online portal for building permit applications, allowing users to submit documents, pay fees, and track their applications digitally. Paper applications will still be accepted through September, but starting October 1, all Building Permits & Inspections submissions must go through the new online system.
Why It Matters: This is an important change for homeowners, contractors, and developers planning renovation or construction projects, as the new system is designed to make the permitting process more convenient and easier to track.

If you've ever stood in front of a wall of supplements wondering which one you're supposed to buy, Wildberry Health Foods in Madison offers something you won't get from most big-box stores: someone you can actually ask.
The locally owned shop has been helping customers navigate vitamins, supplements, herbs, natural groceries, and wellness products since 1999. And if they don't have exactly what you're looking for, you can ask whether they can order a specific item or brand.
But Wildberry is also the kind of place you wander through and find something unexpected. Think gluten-free foods, natural personal-care products, local goods, herbal products, teas, and plenty of specialty items that aren't always easy to find in one place.
So whether you know exactly what you're looking for or have no idea where to start, Wildberry gives you somewhere to begin the conversation.
