Our tenth Dinner Club was amazing! Thank you to all of the people who came last night.

If you have no idea what the event Iโ€™m talking about is:

We pair tables of 6 strangers together at a great local restaurant as a way to meet new people in the city specifically tailored to your vibe.

How it works:

  • Take a short personality quiz

  • Get matched with 5 compatible guests

  • We pick the restaurant, handle the details, and provide conversation starters

You just show up.

NEXT DATE: Tuesday, November 3rd at 6:30 PM

If you've been craving conversations with substance (the kind that remind you why community matters) then this is for you. If you want to reserve your limited spot (or read about it more), just click below:

๐Ÿชท Lotus Movement Is Coming to Baxter Street, and Your First Month Is $79

DanielaConroyPhotography-Lotus-August2026-People-46 - Lauren Heusner.jpg

Most studios make you pick a lane: yoga here, Pilates there, a cycle class across town. Lotus Movement was built on the opposite idea, and it's bringing that idea into Athens with a new studio at 1068 Baxter Street, opening this October.

Lauren Heusner started it in 2023 as Lotus Yoga at Wire Park in Watkinsville. It has since grown into a full movement studio with hot yoga, Reformer Pilates, cycle, strength, sculpt and HIIT on one schedule. The Baxter Street studio adds recovery, too, with an infrared sauna and cold plunge on the way.

So one morning you can sweat through Hot Power Flow in a room heated to 92 degrees. The next, you can squeeze in a 30-minute Express Ride before work. And on the weekend you can try Reformer for the first time without paying for a second membership somewhere else.

The easiest way to find out what you love is to try all of it. Your first month is $79, with unlimited classes across the full lineup and no contract. After that it renews at $269 a month unless you switch to a smaller plan or cancel, and you can change plans anytime.

๐Ÿšถ Stonehenge Way sidewalks could wait for more funding

The Gist: Athens-Clarke County staff proposed sidewalks, accessible ramps, crossings and traffic calming on Old Monroe Road from Couplet Drive to The Avenue and from Athens Collision Center to Atlanta Highway. After revising construction costs, staff made two Stonehenge Way stretches, from Old Monroe Road to Marlborough Downs Road, optional parts of the project.

Why It Matters: The county says Stonehenge residents now walk along loose gravel and debris beside roads with poor visibility. The Old Monroe Road work would give them a safer route toward Creekside Manor and Atlanta Highway. The two Stonehenge Way stretches cover about 850 feet; staff estimates roughly $800,000 in additional sales-tax funds may be needed to build both.

What's Next: The commission is scheduled to consider the plans Oct. 6. If approved, staff expects to seek construction bids in spring 2027 and begin work in summer 2027.
