Athens Scoop Business Brief

🌿 Hemp-Curious? You Can Actually Ask Questions Here.

If you’ve ever walked into a hemp shop and felt like you were supposed to already know what everything does, Classic Citiva takes a different approach.

The locally owned Athens shop was built around empathy, education, community, and making hemp products easier to understand. Whether you already know your way around CBD and THC or you’re simply curious about what’s out there, their team is there to answer questions without making you feel like you need a chemistry degree first.

Classic Citiva carries a range of hemp-based products, including gummies, drinks, tinctures, topicals, vapes, and pet products, along with other wellness-focused items. Their team can also walk you through product options and help you understand what you’re looking at before you decide what’s right for you.

That education-first approach is a big part of the brand. Classic Citiva regularly shares resources explaining things like CBD vs. THC, CBN, THC drinks, product labels, and Certificates of Analysis, because knowing what’s actually in a product matters.

The shop has been part of the Athens-Clarke County community since 2019 and has been recognized by Flagpole Favorites five times. Today, Classic Citiva has two Athens locations, on West Broad Street and Barnett Shoals Road.

So if you’ve been hemp-curious but didn't know where to start, you can stop by, ask questions, and learn without the pressure to already know what you’re looking for. Classic Citiva serves adults 21 and older.

🏘️ Athens plans a smaller Linnentown memorial near UGA

The Gist: Commissioners approved text Sept. 1 for a Linnentown marker. The plan puts the marker and artwork on one city-owned parking space at Linnentown Lane and Baxter Street, replacing a larger, multi-stop design.

Why It Matters: Athens cleared the roughly 55-family Black neighborhood in the 1960s for UGA's Brumby, Creswell and Russell halls. Former resident Hattie Thomas Whitehead pushed for recognition. UGA claims part of the original site and declined to join the project, so Athens scaled it back.

What's Next: The marker and plaza are expected later in 2026. The full memorial is expected in 2027.
