🏭 The old Westclox factory could house mini-golf and local businesses

The Gist: On Oct. 6, Athens-Clarke County commissioners approved new zoning for Fun Town LLC's 19.48 acres at 100 and 130 Newton Bridge Road. The change allows outdoor recreation, businesses, and housing around the former Westclox clock factory, replacing an unbuilt hotel and concert venue plan.

Why It Matters: Co-owner Russell Edwards wants mini-golf and low-cost space for local artists and businesses. The new rules require 50,000 square feet of nonresidential space before most of the allowed housing can be permitted. They also require at least three acres of open space and a path along Dairy Pak Road.
