About Sips Espresso Cafe
Sips Espresso Cafe on Prince Avenue in Normaltown has built a devoted following on one thing: perfectly pulled espresso in a cozy space that feels like it was designed for exactly what it does. With over 410 reviews at 4.7 stars, it holds one of the highest ratings of any coffee shop in Athens, GA. The espresso program is the star. The shots are consistent, the milk drinks are well textured, and the care that goes into each cup is evident without being showy. Sips does not try to be a roaster, a brunch spot, or a live music venue. It is a coffee shop that focuses on being an excellent coffee shop, and that focus pays off in every drink. The space is small and warm, with the kind of neighborhood cafe atmosphere that encourages lingering. Regulars know each other, the baristas remember orders, and the overall experience feels personal in a way that larger shops cannot replicate. The Normaltown location on Prince Avenue places it in one of Athens' most walkable and charming commercial corridors. Sips is open during standard morning and afternoon hours. The cozy size means seating can be limited during peak morning hours, but that is part of the charm. If you are looking for a large space to spread out with a laptop, this is not the spot. If you want the best espresso in the neighborhood and a few quiet minutes to enjoy it, Sips delivers.

My friend and I got coffee here and it was so yummy. We did not have to wait long and the prices were affordable. The seating outside is so cute and clean.

Nice little place near the hospital. I'm not a coffee drinker but was needing something for my wife. The young lady who helped me was very helpful with a great attitude. Best part, the coffee was great! Definitely check this place out.

I had an early appointment at Piedmont cardiology this morning. Since I am definitely not a morning person I felt like a cup of good coffee would be a great idea. There’s a little coffee shop right across from the hospital, so I decided to drop in there and give them a try. The young man working the counter was very helpful discussing the menu. I don’t know much about different kinds of coffees so I always have to ask about them before I order. I opted for a medium latte with sugar-free vanilla syrup. I was glad they had the sugar-free vanilla as many coffee shops that I’ve gone to were always out of it. I guess it’s a popular flavor. Sips had quite a few in-house baked sweets. There were so many yummy looking options; it was hard to choose. The young man recommended the zucchini bread; said it was probably the most popular thing they offered. I ended up buying myself a lemon blackberry scone to have with my coffee plus a fat slice of zucchini bread and an apple scone to take home. Sips has a covered patio out front and another patio on the side. They don’t really have indoor seating although the covered patio out front could be enclosed in the winter for a seating area. I sat outside and enjoyed the morning sun with my scone and my coffee. The coffee was delicious and the scone was wonderful. I don’t get out this way all that often, but when I do, I’m going to stop at Sips again. They have good stuff.
